There is new PDF from Global Knowledge called Configuration Cheat Sheet for the New vSphere Web Client. This Free E-book (Free registration required) does focus on most common configuration issues and tasks that vSphere admin daily does. Those tasks can be configuration of VMs, networking, storage, settings of resources, cluster settings, permissions and many others. The vSphere Web Client Configuration Cheat Sheet has 20 pages and the author is Bill Ferguson, who is also an author of The Official VCP5 Certification Guide (Pearson/VMware Press).
Here is a quick quote from the author:
This cheat sheet is meant to be a guide that you can refer to as you bravely begin to use the new Web Client. It will also assist you in performing the tasks that are not possible on the Windows-based client.
Yes, it's good to point this out, if you're not following VMware news on daily/monthly basis. Since vSphere 5.5 the step towards the vSphere Web client not only as an alternative of the full “fat” Windows client, but as a necessity to configure features that are new in vSphere 5.5. The Windows based vSphere client can still start/stop VMs using virtual hardware version 10, but can't modify such a VMs.
The document has only 20 pages, but might evolve further (with community help) to something more complete, but already in this stage of delivery it might help when looking to do some config in vSphere 5.5.
As being said, the vSphere Web Client Configuration Cheat Sheet PDF is provided as free download, but you need to give out your registration details. The good thing is that when you register once, it keeps your details for next time. So next time you'll come back to get some technical virtualization whitepaper from my page, you don't need to fill this form again.
