As every year, this year again, VMworld is the conference of the year not to miss, for every VMware admin or IT guy, consultant or tech-writer. The VMworld 2016 conference this year is held at Las Vegas for the American event, and in Barcelona for Europe. I've already put a VMworld 2016 page on my blog a long time ago (the clock is ticking there … ) where you can get the latest news about the event, VMware certification discounts, or links and videos from the event.
What to expect?
As usually, the time will be counted. Plan your “mix” the right way. The mix I mean sessions, hang space, bloggers area, parties. I'm sure that again this year, the atmosphere will be electric, even if, for the European event, we go back to Barcelona, again. I love this city, but I think it's time to change. After Five years in Barcelona, I'd expect next year to go somewhere else. For now, I have no news where will be VMworld next year. Who knows? You still have time to register for either Las Vegas or Barcelona. Register

Backpack anyone?
The VMworld backpack is looking different this year, but it seems solid made (important). Depending on the usage, but since few years it seems that the backpacks are good quality. Check the Video.
Parties?
A fellow blogger Andreas Lesslhumer has put already a nice blog post about the known parties in Las Vegas (Hopefully that post about Parties in Barcelona will follow. He keeps the post and the list updated, check it out!
This year's Theme?
be_TOMORROW -:)
The 13th annual VMworld® 2016 U.S. will be held Aug. 28-Sept. 1 in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. Later this year, the 9th annual VMworld 2016 Europe will return to Fira Barcelona Gran Via Oct. 17-20 in Barcelona. With the theme of “be_ TOMORROW,” VMworld 2016 attendees can discover the technology, trends and people who are shaping the future of digital business. The event is four jam-packed days of general session keynotes, hundreds of panels, breakout sessions and labs on hot topics like Unified Hybrid Cloud, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, Cloud Management and Services, and Network Virtualization.

Networking?
As usually all Twitter friends and readers are welcome to say hi! I'll be present in Barcelona. I hope to meet new people and make new friends. Get in touch ! Best place to meet is in the Bloggers space where #vBrownbag crew is doing tech talks and where VMware Community Guys are located as well…
Sessions?
Use content catalog and register for your sessions. As usually, I won't register for too many sessions as they're recorded, so you'll be able to watch them later. But if you like some speakers or want to meet a speaker after a session, this is the way to do it. Duncan Epping has put his list of recommended sessions. You can look at it here. Eric Siebert did the same here.
I remember meeting Dave Shanley and his team after his EVO: RAIL session – Barcelona 2014.
Shame to see that EVO: RAIL did not succeed more than that. The technology and simplicity of configuration were top notches, but not the pricing…. VMware hit a wall with EVO: RAIL it seems. Might they learn from it?
Labs?
Apparently, there are more labs coming this year…
70 new Hands-on Labs — new NSX, Horizon, AirWatch, Virtual SAN, Arkin and Tech Preview vSphere Labs and Challenge Labs.
Wait and see? Definitely. I remember that the labs were always a challenge for VMware. Latest technology running in nested environments, always full….. Hands-on labs are definitely the place to go and test the hottest and latest technology from VMware.
Solution Exchange?
Solution exchange where you can ask questions directly. There are always hot startups with cool technology…. or a VMware Expert bar -:) You'll definitely won't get bored during VMworld !!!

Well, EVO:RAIL isn’t totally dead, it’s been resurrected as VCE’s VxRail solution…. =)
