My new video showing Teams in action.
I decided to give it a try. The new Camtasia Studio 7 looked just great, so I downloaded and I'm trying to shoot some video. I hope that my french accent don't bothers you too much guys… -:), but seeing some good quality videos from Eric Sloof here and here recently just gave me the courage to make one.
So VMware Workstation 7 has a great feature called Teams. This feature helps you to organize your VMs and group them into Team which can be powered ON or Off as one VM. It saves some clicks every time you want to start working with this or that configuration. You can also isolate the whole team of VMs from the rest of the network. You can add or remove VMs from the team too. Coupled with an SSD drive and powerful PC the whole setup just rocks.
I did setup my team partly on a SSD drive which I bought recently. Sure that SSD's are still pricey, but the speed is just awesome. Besides that I'm using linked clones feature in my Workstation 7 setup, which saves tons of space by having one base disk for several VM and then each linked clone writes it's changes into a delta disk which is much smaller.
So in my team I'm having a domain controller VM which is located on SATA drive and the rest of the VMs are on the SSD drive. I'm also using Starwind iSCSI SAN software which is setup on my box and my virtual ESXi 4 VMs are using it as a shared iSCSI storage.
The video best shows in Full screen and HD. I'm quite dissapointed with the quality this time….
