VMware Technical Journal – a very good technical info to read.
I must admit that I'm a bit late on this, but it's never late for good and quality technical information. The VMware Technical Journal is a Free PDF publication which will normally be released on regular basis. This publication is composed from several whitepapers written by VMware Engineers.
One of them is Olivier Cremel (Fr). Readers of ESX Virtualization should know this guy, since I published an article concerning Olivier Cremel and ESXi some time ago… -:)
Each of those chapters is very technical read and you might not be attracted by every single chapter there, since you might be specialized in some of this technology, but not all of them.
Good chapter concerning the VMware Hands On Labs where you'll be able to read how it started, back in 2004, and the evolution of HOL with also the number of VMs being deployed each year. The number of VM being deployed is growing exponentially.
A quick quote from this chapter:
While this paper focused on the VMworld 2011 HOLs, the HOL Core Team started work in early January 2012 on plans for the VMworld 2012 HOL. The plan is ambitious , and the team is looking to push the boundaries even further by integrating more of VMware’s extensive portfolio into the end-to-end HOL solution. In the end, it is all about providing the best possible HOL experience for VMware’s most enthusiastic and technical users
