There is a very interesting interactive learning course from VMware, and it's free. It's about networking. If you want to learn about VDS, vCNS and VXLAN or even NSX – the training is for you. The training has 3 modules where the 3rd module discusses some advanced VMware network virtualization solutions like vCNS, VXLAN and NSX….
Update: You may want to follow the newest course – VMware Network Virtualization Fundamentals 2016.
The chapters are going progressively from the basics, then you move to more complex topics like vSphere distributed switch (end of 2nd module) or VXLAN and NSX (3rd module). You can easily skip chapters you already know or you can fast forward within the lesson.
Interactivity is built-in the course – you are presented in a situation where you have to do a drag and drop where you have to reply to a situation to check your knowledge. Excellent to keep students active!
Module 1: Establish the Requirements for Network Virtualization
- Explain the data center before virtualization
- Trace the evolution of virtualization in the data center
- Define network virtualization
- Compare physical network components to virtual network components
- Recognize why we need network virtualization
- Identify the challenges customers face in a modern data center
- Catalog how VMware network virtualization solves business challenges
Module 2: Compare and Contrast Virtual and Physical Networking Solutions
- Review a typical physical network
- Distinguish a virtual network from a physical network
- Explain how a virtual network is implemented with a vSphere Virtual Standard Switch
- Discuss how a virtual network is implemented with a vSphere Virtual Distributed Switch
- Correlate business, management, security, and operations challenges with the VMware virtual networking solutions
Module 3: Describe Advanced VMware Network Virtualization Solution
- Classify VMware advanced network virtualization solutions
- Discuss VMware vCloud Networking and Security (vCNS)
- Explain VXLAN
- Discover VMware NSX
- Distinguish between vCloud Networking and Security, and NSX
- Correlate business, management, security, and operations challenges with their solutions
I haven't go through yet, but it seems that the module 3 is excellent for vCNS, VDS and VXLAN! Definitely bookmarking this -:).
