John Troyer @jtroyer is the man behind the vExpert program. He is the guy that does that magic…. he is able to bring the passionate people (us) together, as a community. He has made the announcement that vExpert 2013 applications are now available, check it out. vExpert Applications 2013 are open. The deadline for applications is April 15, 2013.
You might ask yourself, but who are vExperts and how to become one?

These are the bloggers, book authors, VMUG leaders, speakers, tool builders, community leaders and general enthusiasts. They work as IT admins and architects for VMware customers, they act as trusted advisors and implementors for VMware partners or as independent consultants, and some work for VMware itself. All of them have the passion and enthusiasm for technology and applying technology to solve problems. They have contributed to the success of us all by sharing their knowledge and expertise over their days, nights, and weekends. They are, quite frankly, the most interesting and talented group of people I’ve ever been in a room with.
When I first received the vExpert award back in 2009, the e-mail finished in my spam folder…. -:), but since then I've done quite a few steps in my career, and participated on three VMworlds… with the passion for virtualization and IT.
vExpert program that has started back in 2009 continues every year. So every year you have the chance to say hey I've also participated. I've done this and that, so I also can get recognized as a vExpert.
You can apply for any of those following, to be recognized as a vExpert:
- Evangelist – You’re a blogger, regular speaker, VMTN contributor, etc. who shares the passion with the rest of the community. You might be employed, but not by VMware or a partner. Nobody really knows.
- Customer – You’re a customer internal facing proxy evangelist if that makes any sense whatsoever. You get it. You make sure your internal organization gets it.
- VPN (VMware Partner Network) – You work for VMware or a partner and you’re either a rock star by choice or by force. Either way, you know your stuff and you’re good at sharing with your customers.
