I managed to catch up with Rasmus Haslund in front of the Veeam booth in Barcelona during VMware EXPLORE 2022. He told me what's his best upcoming features that will be included in Veeam Backup and Replication v12.
One of them is the new VeeaMover that we have talked already in another post on my blog. In essence, it allows you to move your backup files between repositories without losing the metadata. You are able to copy or move VM backup from repositories using block cloning into other types of repositories using block cloning too.
For example that you want to move from REfS to XFS. You'll be able to do that without losing fast cloning information. For example, Synthetic Full backups will not need more space on the destination than it uses on source repos. Imagine that you need to replace old repository hardware with a new one.
This and some more is to discover in the video… Here photo with Rasmus -:).
and the video.
The event is quite successful for many vendors because there is so many people attending!! We're thrilled to be able to cover the event in details and sharing what's happening within the virtualization ecosystem.
