Here are some fresh news about Veeam Backup and Replication v. 6.0.
UPDATE: There has been a version 6.1 released which also introduced VeeamZIP – a Free Backup solution from Veeam Software. Check it out.
Veeam continues the innovation process started in the early days and we can expect other great features appearing in the version 6.0 of the product. The news about Hyper-V support was shared with my readers in this article already few months back, but another cool info comes out just today, with the official Press Release from Veeam Software.
The product will be demonstrated at VMworld 2011 Las Vegas next Week… Veeam Backup & Replication v6 in its booth (#813) The v6 of Veeam Backup will also be presented during session SPO3981; you can registere here. As concerning the General availability of the v6 the product is expected to be ready in Q4 2011. There are some completely new features announced and those features are presented here:
- Enterprise scalability: Enhanced distributed architecture streamlines deployment and maintenance of remote office/branch office (ROBO) and large installations. Also speeds up backup, replication and restore over WANs.
- Advanced replication: Accelerates replication by 10X, streamlines failover and provides real failback with delta sync.
- Multi-hypervisor support: Reduces the cost and complexity of managing multi-hypervisor environments with new support for Windows Server Hyper-V and Microsoft Hyper-V Server within Veeam’s existing data protection infrastructure (one install and one console).
- Numerous enhancements, including 1-Click File Restore: Extends Veeam′s existing file-level recovery with delegated, web-based restore directly to the original virtual machine (VM), without requiring a direct network connection or in-guest agent.
