Long awaited by many virtualization admins, Veeam Backup & Replication v 7.0 has finally been released today. I've covered (almost) all features and new enhancements already. But there is always more to tell about this piece of software. Veeam brought this new version just before VMworld San Francisco, which is also the 10th VMworld in history.
UPDATE: Check out the latest Patch 3 release!!! – details in my article Veeam 7.0 R2 Patch 3 release brings performance improvements.
Just quick note that I wanted to share now, because about an hour ago, Rick Vanover (@Rickatron) on the webinar told us that the v7.0 of Veeam has new compression engine which is much more efficient, and from the time perspective, It reduces the backup times up to 10 times, where increase of the backups size is only 10%. Most of us usually don't have capacity problem, but the backup time window can be the problem.
Rick was talking also about the cache for the WAN accelerators. The WAN cache accelerator, which usually, bigger the cache is, better the overall throughput is. Here is a screenshot from the WAN accelerator configuration assistant allowing to define the cache size and placement.
And here is another screenshot showing a job which back up vCloud director vApps. You can see that the job progress shows the vApp configuration with the vApp's metatata as well, so as concerning the restore options you could easily restore the vApp not only to the original location, but also to another vCloud Organization… -:). A quick quote from Veeam's blog:
A big feature for our Hyper-V customers is the inclusion of Virtual Labs for Hyper-V. Now Hyper-V customers have access to SureBackup Recovery Verification, U-AIR and the On-Demand Sandbox capability that our VMware users have enjoyed for 3 years.

Oh, there is a cool infographics to download from Veeam's blog as well, which kind of summarize All of Veeam's version 7.0 -:).
The v 7.0 is available and can be downloaded (as an ISO) from Veeam here.
Update: If you upgrading from 6.5, make sure that you enable the parallel VMs processing (and also parallel VMDK processing) via options of the Veeam's software.
It's because the check box is not checked by default, after the upgrade…
