vCloud Director Performance and best practices guide has been released.
The PDF white paper has been released by VMware last week. What's in it? There are several topics covered in the paper:
- Experimental Setup covering the setup used
- Sizing for Number of Cell Instances, tested with up to 12 cell instances with 10 fylly loaded vCenter Server instances.
- LDAP Sync from external LDAP servers,
- Open Virtualization Format (OVF) File Upload
- Clone vApps across vCenter Server Instances.
- Deploying vApp with fence or without fence mode.
- Inventory Sync.
- Adjusting Thread Pool and Cache Limits.
The white paper has 32 pages.
Together with this whitepaper you might already noticed that the vCloud Director has an update, which has been released. It's an 1.0.1 update. In this update there is ofcourse the support for the newly released vSphere 4.1 U1 update. There are a few other enhancements and also as some bug fixes. One of the other enhancements is Internationalization (I18N) Level 1 Support and also support for IP Translation for Organization Networks.
Concerning the localisation support: Even if vCloud Director is not localized, it can run on non-English operating systems and handle non-English text.
