If you're VMware customer and you're using VCB for restoring backups read on…
VMware has extended it's support to VCB in vSphere 4.1, but if you want to restore the backup images, you must use VMware vCenter Converter. Watch out, these images requires the use of VMware vCenter Converter. If you have done your migration to vSphere 4.1, you can't use the version of vCenter Converter bundled with vCenter. Because it's not compatible to be able to restore your backups.
Instead you must use the VMware Converter 4.0.1 standalone or earlier version to be able to restore your backup images done by VCB.
So make sure that when you're upgrading/reinstall/migrating your vCenter Server. In case that your vCenter is on 32bit machine, you must migrate to a system with 64 bit OS since the 32bit OS is no longer supported for vCenter 4.1. And at the same time you're using the same server as a backup server don't install the vCenter converter bundled in the installation ISO file of vCenter server 4.1, because you won't be able to restore your backups.

Do you know if vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0.1 can successfully restore VCB images to vCenter 4.1 / ESX 4.1?
