This is a special report post.
Yes, the tweets and blog posts had been just raining the last couple of hours and days. I'm putting my thoughts and wishes too… 😎 .
There will be a very new update announced from VEEAM. Or maybe a totally new product? At the moment nobody knows. The only think that's sure is that there is a teaser message on the Veeam's website for registering to be the 1st informed.
SureThing, new update for Veeam. 😆 It's really exciting news. I can't wait to see it.
Already Veeam Backup and Recovery is a product that has revolutionized the Virtual infrastructure backup strategies by cutting the backup window to be up to 10 times smaller. But not only. The product is mature and reliable and Veeam has always been at the Edge of progress and development.
This post is special. I'm updating it live. Just few searches forward and I found few more informations about the new upcomming feature. Yes it will be more or less a new feature which will integrate into existing Veeam Backup and Recovery software. (as said by Doug Hazelman from VEEAM.)
Also Gostev has revealed in the forums section at Veeam's website that the next release of Veeam Backup and Recovery will be version 5!!!
we need to add brick-level restores to our product, and remove the last existing reasons to use Symantec for virtual machine backups
Thus nothing i's still clear enough at the moment if the 22nd of March we will become downloading and testing version 5 or it will be the time to evaluate a new add-on for existing Veeam Backup and recovery Software.
some of the upcoming features (still may be or maybe not true at this time…) … I could sneak at the forum section there, because Veeam backup users are requesting new features and providing necessary feedback:
- Exchange Mailbox Backup/Restore feature.
- Tape / VTL integration – Myself and many of my collegues are having clients with LTO3 or LTO4 tapes. That would be a feature to start beating those big estabilished guys like Symantec and CA…. (fyi Symantec 2010 has been announced few days back).
- vSphere Plugin for Veeam – would be nice. No? 😎 To configure, start or stop backups directly from within the VMware vSphere 4 interface.
- Faster speed – there might be some more optimizations done in version 5 too? The curent version with CBT feature is so fast already.
