If you're into Apps everywhere, then this event is for you. IGEL has been around for a very long time. Started first as a hardware manufacturer of thin clients, but that was only in the early days. Now it's much more. They're running their yearly event, IGEL Disrupt, and this year it is in Munich where during packed 2 days of sessions, bootcamps, certifications, demos and events you'll be able to learn new tech and meet people.
You'll be able to meet interesting vendors, learn what's new in this space and where the technology is going. You can also get certified. Honestly, I'm quite sad that I cannot attend this year due to other occupations. EUC has always been my second passion (after datacenter virtualization), as I've done many deployments of Horizon.
With the need of securisation of endpoints against hackers and other malware, the security is the priority n°1. The industry is in war against ransomware and malware. Whether you look at the datacenter space with data protection businesses or datacenter products, everyone is concerned about ransomware. The EUC sector is no different. IGEL has their own secure endpoint OS and it integrates with Horizon 8 and Workspace ONE to access virtualized desktops and apps with security and reliability.
It is a 2-day event the 16-17 September 2024. You can register here.
IGEL Disrupt is the biggest EUC conference in the industry, where you'll be able to meet Microsoft, Citrix, Omnissa and many other vendors creating new hardware and software for the EUC. With remote work now being as standard the sector is developing quickly.
“The EUC Event for Now & Next Endpoint Security, Digital Workspaces, and Beyond”.
When you look at the list of the sponsors, you'll understand that many of those partners/sponsors are well-known, while others not so much.
Yes, one of the sponsors is also Omnissa which is an EUC division of VMware/Broadcom that has been sold by Broadcom. So it is now a completely separate entity from VMware, but still creating and improving existing products that my readers already knows. VMware Horizon or Workspace ONE. If you're running VMware in your datacenter and you're into EUC/VDI, then Horizon is the choice.
The Agenda
You can have a look at the agenda here.
Omnissa and IGEL
IGEL provides the “base brick” which is the IGEL OS that runs on the endpoint. Omnissa's Horizon 8 client is natively integrated app within the IGEL OS so you can access your Horizon 8 desktop or Workspace ONE.
Looking at the below Omnissa and IGEL integration graphic and noting the presence of App Volumes (back in the day they called it Cloud Volumes) which is a technology I blogged about a while back, during VMworld. App Volumes is a real-time application delivery system that enables IT to instantly deliver applications with complete application lifecycle management.
