Partner Activation Code – (PAC) activation procedure.
PAC stays for Partner Activation Code. When customer buys a VMware product through an OEM partner, he'll need to activate the PAC first to be able to get the License Activation Code (LAC)/Serial number. If the customer has been registered with VMware in the past, he'll needs to sign in. Otherwise, he'll have to register first.
The PAC is for single use. After its registration, the PAC is not needed anymore, since you'll be able to get a serial at the end of the registration process. After the PAC is registered, you'll have to look for an email with the product serial # or LAC. Also during the registration process you have the possibility to add the e-mail of the person who is responsible to administer the license.
What the KB says:
VMware products purchased through a VMware partner are identified by a VMware PAC that is activated through the registration process through a self-service Partner Activation Portal. A VMware License Activation Code/serial number is a unique code that is released when a customer successfully registers the PAC in the Partner Activation Portal.
In this video you can see the process. You'll have to first go and see this KB 1003303, where you'll find all the necessary information about the process.
Pleas note that the voice in this video is a bit strange, but you can still understand well what is the person talking about. Well, It's like that… -:). Enjoy.
