I stumbled through this cool start menu for Windows 8, called Pokki. And you might say that it's another Free Start Menu for Windows 8, but the thing is, it's not only a start menu, but also a center for managing all W8 applications in very cool manner.
What's the point to dream about an upgrade to Windows 8 for users of Windows 7, without touch screen? They will find themselves without start menu if they upgrade to Windows 8. It's kind of stupid. Microsoft did not quite think of it, and left a space for third party developers …. If I tell you that Pokki has been downloaded over 1.5 million times, would you be surprised? With start menu from pokki, Windows 8 became more like it.
The start menu from Pokki.com integrates into W8 system very easy, you have a choice between the Pokki logo or a Windows logo, plus more tweak concerning what to display on the menu etc. Right click > Options just does the trick.
You of course have the option to boot directly to desktop, so you don't have to look to start the Pokki menu manually.
But the interesting part is how Pokki is managing new applications. If you're Google Chrome user, you know how the Google chrome extensions works. Basically you're directed to a webpage, where when you click an extension, the button kind of changes into INSTALL, and let you install the extension.
Pokki works similar way, where different applications are provided in a window, which pops up and provides you with an access to different categories. I think that software like this really enhances users experience with Windows 8 and let's you kind of forget about some non existent default menu in W8…..
It's like it's been designed directly to work with W8.
