There is a new offer from VMware which promotes new training format for passing VCP certification. As you know, to pass VCP you need to attend a class and then only you are able to pass the certification exam to finaly earn the VCP title. There is another way to attend a VMware class – On Demand Classroom. It avoids you the travel expenses to the training center and it fully meets the VCP requirements.
You can test the first two modules of the whole On Demand Classroom for free. The full class has 24 labs. It's a cloud-based lab environment which includes all of the labs from the vSphere: Install, Manage, Configure [5.1] course. This self-paced environment is available for 30 days or 30 hours of active time, whichever expires first. The environment consists of 24 labs detailed below.
Lab 1: Installing VMware vSphere Graphical User Interfaces Lab
Lab 2: Configuring VMware ESXi
Lab 3: Working with Virtual Machines
Lab 4: Configuring the vCenter Server Appliance
Lab 5: Standard Virtual Switches

To clarify though – while the first 2 modules are free, you’d have to pay for and take all 24 to meet the course requirements for the VCP exam to get you the VCP-DCV, yes?

Imho, yes. That’s how It looks like…

I took the On-Demand course. It has been available since Aug 2013. It is not free, the cost is US$3495. It is all of the same material as the standard online or in person class, the only difference is it is delivered on-demand. Also, the class is available for 90 days unless they changed it since I finished it.

Thanks for sharing Tony. In fact, they offer 2 labs for Free (“one-time look at the first two On Demand Classroom modules”), and then you have to buy the whole package if you like it. That’s how I understand this offer.

$3495, ouch.
