This article is meant to be just informative for newcomers to virtualization under vSphere.
I just wanted to point out this easy way to configure what do you need as an information when you fire-up your VI client. Whether you're managing single host in a lab environment (my case…) or a cluster with more ESX(i) hosts, you might be thinking that the information by default presented with the VI client just does not fits your need.
This might not be obvious to everyone, especially to people which just discovered Virtualization and which try to learn some stuff here and there.
Well, by default the VI client brings us the window where you can see some basic informations, but you can actually change that. You can choose on your own, what will be displayed there…
As you can see, simple right click can change what you want. After It depends of the size of your screen (you might be using large 16:9 TFT pannel) so you can really choose what you want.
It might be obvious for everyone, but for someone who does not look or digs through the UI, this detail might help. And since I haven't seen a blog post about it, I thought it might be useful to people which just starting with vSphere….
Enjoy.. -:)
If you managing a SMB or small shop you might want to check out those training courses to get the maximum for your investment. If you want to go further and learn more about VMware vSphere 4.1, I can highly recommend Professional Training from Trainsignal. See my page on that here.

It’s actually called vSphere Client now with the release of 4.x, not VI Client (legacy Client version 3.x). Just thought it would be important to share the correct terminology for ‘newbies’. 🙂
