The vNetwork Distributed Switch is present in vSphere 4.
The Nexus 1000V is a pure software implementation of a Cisco Nexus switch. Cisco Nexus 1000V integrates with VMware vSphere to deliver VN-Link, virtual machine-aware network services.
The Nexus 1000V is part of the Enterprise Plus bundle and available to all VMware resellers and distributors, even if non-Cisco partners.
The Cisco Nexus 1000V has a real-time coordinated configuration of network and security services and maintains a virtual machine-centric management model, enabling the server administrator to increase both efficiency and flexibility.
The Cisco Nexus 1000V allows policy to move with a virtual machine during live migration ensuring persistent network, security, and storage compliance resulting in improved business continuance, performance management, and security compliance.
The Cisco Nexus 1000V aligns management of the operational environment for virtual machines and physical server connectivity in the data center , reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) by providing operational consistency and visibility throughout the network. It offers flexible collaboration between the server, network, security, and storage teams while supporting various organizational boundaries and individual team autonomy.

Hi
Are you sure the Cisco 1000V is included with enterprise plus. All the docs I have read/seen say the dvs is included, but not the Cisco 1000v.
The following chart does not say the Cisco 1000v

Yes, the VMware vNetwork distributed switch is part of vSphere 4.0 Enterprise Plus. However, Cisco’s Nexus 1000V is a Cisco product, and NOT part of any VMware bundle. The Nexus 1000v retails for $695 per CPU, and support is $174 per CPU per year, on TOP of your vSphere costs. Please see http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vnetwork_distributed_switch_datasheet.pdf — cheers!
