Veeam has announced last week that Veeam Explorer for Oracle will be part of the Veeam v9 release scheduled later this year. Veeam Explorer for Oracle DB will be already 6th Explorer as the family of explorers has already AD, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Storage Snapshots.
I suppose that the utility will be part of the Veeam Free version like it's the case of the present version where with the Free version of Veeam has all the “Explorers” available inside.
This tool will be supported for Oracle DB running on Windows, Linux. Virtual or physical and is compatible with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Veeam Explorer for Oracle – Features:
Transaction-level recovery – transaction logging works by writing transaction to a log store. The information in the log store can be recovered by replaying the log store entries in teh sequence since the last archive took place. Veeam Explorer for Oracle will be able to restore Oracle DB to a point-in-time.
Transaction log backup and replay – This feature works the way that there is a sub-job that moves transaction log files from Oracle server to the backup repository, making additional recovery options available in Veeam Explorer for Oracle.
Image-level and transaction log backups can be used to restore the individual databases to the time of the image-based backup—or via log replay—to a specific point in time measured in minutes or to a specific transaction.
The current Veeam Explorers will also get more enhancements in the Veeam v9:
- Restores of GPO objects – enabling restores of Group Policy Objects (GPO)
- Restores of Integrated DNS records – integrated DNS records and configuration partition objects for Microsoft AD
- Full site and site collection – Further enhancements of Veeam explorer for SharePoint with full-site and site collection restores.
- Table-level Restores – New feature allowing table-level restores with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Serve.
Again this year Veeam is moving forward, continues to innovate and bring new free products, new features and enhancements to its Veeam availability suite. Again they continue to improve the experience of data protection and availability. Veeam is also organizing VeeamOn conference in Las Vegas – From 26 to 29th of October.
