There is a new offer from Veeam that you'll like as very often as an admin, you must solve issues with backups, backups locations, their security, their immutability, respect 3-2-1 rules etc etc. Now Veeam can take care of it all as with their latest offer – Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 – you can have you backups stored with Veeam and the object cloud storage, fully managed by Veeam. This storage is in a secure location which you can choose from different areas of the globe depending on where your company is located. Go and check out Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 which is the latest offering from Veeam that promises secure, resilient, and easy-to-use cloud storage.
Perhaps some of you might think that Veeam has stepped into a territory of other service providers or storage providers. Yes for sure, but that's normal. Look at other vendors…. everybody does that, and every opportunity is good to make money. And they are also compliance reasons. Some compagnies cannot store backups elsewhere than with Veeam.
Security Features
One of the features of Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 is its immutability. When activated, once data is backed up, it cannot be altered, deleted, or tampered with, even by administrators. This feature is crucial in protecting against ransomware attacks, which often target backup data. By ensuring that backups are immutable, Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 provides an additional layer of security that can prevent data loss and ensure a successful recovery.
Another key security feature is encryption. Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 uses AES 256-bit encryption to protect data both in transit and at rest. This ensures that even if data is intercepted, it remains unreadable to unauthorized users. Additionally, the storage is logically air-gapped from production environments, meaning it is physically separated and protected from potential threats.
Ease of Use
Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 is designed to be user-friendly, making it accessible even to those without extensive cloud management experience. The solution is fully managed by Veeam, eliminating the need for users to handle infrastructure management or deal with complex configurations. This means that organizations can focus on their core business activities while Veeam takes care of the technical details.
The solution is also predictable in pricing, with a flat fee per TB that includes storage, API calls, restore, and egress charges. This eliminates the unpredictability of cloud costs and helps organizations budget more effectively.

Note:
There are two editions available of v2:
- Foundation Edition utilizes Azure Blob Cool storage, offering 11 nines of durability and locally redundant storage. Ideal for scenarios where budget conscious, locally resilient storage is key, Foundation provides solid security with encryption and immutability.
- Advanced Edition builds on this by offering Zone Redundant Storage (ZRS) with 12 9s of durability. This extra layer of redundancy is suitable for organizations that need their backups protected against data center outages, adding resilience to a region wide level.
Both editions have immutability and AES-256 encryption, however Advanced Edition has the highest level of durability and availability in Azure’s zones.

Veeam Data Cloud Vault v2 is a powerful tool for organizations looking to enhance their data protection strategies. With its robust security features and ease of use, it provides a reliable and efficient solution for safeguarding critical data.
