One of our partners, StarWind software, is organizing a series of webinar about ZFS. As you know ZFS file system is a very robust file system used in Linux distros, NAS devices or virtual appliances. It supports many storage protocols, snapshots and has very good resiliency.
You can register for the upcoming webinar File Server Storage and How It’s Delivered in ZFS Solutions on the Market here. You'll find about file server storage and how ZFS ties into it. You will learn about how exactly ZFS delivers file server storage, how it’s presented in various solutions using ZFS, as well as how to provide and configure file server storage in StarWind SAN & NAS. You'll learn how ZFS can be useful for your mission-critical IT infrastructure and are looking for a solution for your file server storage needs.
StarWind has already registered 2 other webinars before this one. You can have a look at this page for the Part 1 and Part 2 webinars about ZFS, as well. You can register for the third one in the series of four there. It will be held on the 25th of November.
There is one more to be delivered and scheduled. The last one will be about backup storage and how it is delivered in ZFS solutions on the market.
ZFS is designed as a single pool which means it is not intended for clustering used in VMware or Hyper-V environments. ZFS isn't best fit for virtualized workloads as ZFS writes data to free blocks and frees up space once nothing is referencing old blocks causing fragmentation.
ZIL as a part of main pool causes additional fragmentation with synchronous writes and doubles write operations.
