A few days back there was a live event organized by 3CX covering the launch of 3CX v15 Phone System. During the event, all details the upcoming 3CX v15 were unveiled followed by question and answers detailing the new features and improvements over the previous release. Admins were asking questions not only about improvements and new features but also how the migration path works especially for older than the v14. I think it's worth to watch not only for folks willing to upgrade but also people that do not run a software PBX in their environments. The simplified installer can deploy the solution in 15 minutes.
3CX worked together with Lets Letsencrypt.org to provide free renewable secure certificates for companies that do not have their own certificates. This also avoids costly renewing certificates every year. (FYI. Let’s Encrypt has issued more than 5 million certificates in total since we launched to the general public on December 3, 2015. Approximately 3.8 million of those are active, meaning unexpired and unrevoked. Their active certificates cover more than 7 million unique domains.) It is through 3CX that those SSL certificates are generated and managed. It's still possible to use your own DNS and your own certificates.
The 3CX Phone System v15 has an NGIX web server (instead of IIS) using less memory and CPU and has a completely new management console. There are more applications supported out of the box. The new scriptable interface allows easier integration with any CRM / Contact Centre / Outbound call center solutions. Interesting the fact that the 3CX can also run on a mini-PC which are fanless and uses SSDs costing less that $100 including Windows license.
Now, with 3CX provisioning server you can provision new phone anywhere in the world. All you need to do is to enter the MAC address to the 3CX console and plug in the phone. Previously it wasn't so easy.
3CX v15 Free Edition
In v15 there is also a FREE edition which has 8 simultaneous call license plus 1-year free maintenance, free web conferencing for up to 5 participants as well as a single SIP Trunk / Gateway, ideal for small offices which can later upgrade to a more feature-rich commercial edition.
A desktop deployments is gone as it's possible to “push” everything to the clients from single central location.
3CX supports failover out of the box. You can easily setup an active – passive failover using just two machines. Effectively a second server is configured which continually gets updated using a scheduled restore. In addition, it monitors the active system. When it detects a failure, it switches itself to active.
