This training from Trainsignal will teach you how to get started with vCloud Director. The training is 5 hours long and the instructor is David Davis. David has done many great VMware Trainings, and I have covered many of them on my blog. See my blog page on different training possibilities (also Official VMware Trainings) here.
There is many new terms which comes into considerations when you talk about cloud computing. All those terms will get explained, will be able to get familiar with the concepts behind the cloud computing and and in addition, you'll be able to:
– Install vCD using the new virtual appliance.
– Install on top of Linux with an external SQL database.
– Connect vCD to vCenter & vShield.
– Create provider virtual data center.
– Create organizations.
– Create Org vDCs.
You'll be able to run multi-tiered apps in your cloud by creating vApps and storing them in your cloud catalog.
You might saw my post about my new partner Stratogen who provided me with an access to a private datacenter powered by vCloud Director in my post here. Stratogen is actually giving the possibility to try this private datacenter for free during 7 days. I was able to explore this vCloud Director user interface as a “customer” in this post here.
The Training from Trainsignal helps you to get started and to understand the principles and teach you how to design and install this solution based on vCloud Director in your lab on in your production environment. Find out more at about this training at TrainSignal.
A quick quote from David's overview:
Cloud Computing is the hottest topic in technology today but most people (including many in IT) have no idea really what it is and how it works. What are the different types of cloud computing, what makes up a cloud, and why do you (and your users) want to implement one? You'll find out the answers to these questions in this course (and that's just in the first couple of lessons).
Once you are “cloud savvy”, we'll jump into the #1 infrastructure cloud platform in use today – VMware vCloud Director. You'll find out what makes up vCloud Director and how it builds on top of vSphere. In the end, you'll learn “cloud-speak” by understanding terms like providers, organizations, virtual data centers, vApps, and numerous types of virtual networks.
