PowerGUI v. 3.0 released. Few days ago there has been also a new release of PowerGUI. PowerGUI provides easy to use graphical user interface for creating and managing scripts. You can leverage the use of power packs, like the one for VMware vSphere which has been a community effort in collaboration with Alan Renouf.
I blogged about PowerGUI and VMware power Packs in the past. You can browse the PowerGUI website and find your powerpacks there. Many areas covered in the PowerGUI library. PowerGUI is about automating. You can learn how-to script the day to day tasks, which are repetitive, to make the PowerCLI do the job for you.
In the Virtualization category there are PowerPacks for Citrix Server, Hyper-V, VMware Community Power Pack Also Vmware vSphere Management.
Also there is always a good choice of background wallpapers as well.. Go and see…
What's new?
There are new feature in the Administrative Console:
– Improved actions functionality
– Automatic modules and snap-ins load for PowerPacks
– Authoring mode
– PowerPack discovery and installation dialog
And there are new features in the Script Editor:
– Reset runspace on demand feature
– Automatic variables storing PowerGUI state
– Multiline command support for embedded PowerShell Console window
A quick quote from Poshoholic website:
Now we’re providing the same support for PowerPacks, so you can search online for PowerPacks, select the ones you like from the list of results, and click on a button to download, unblock, install and load those PowerPacks in the Admin Console. We have a large library of PowerPacks available, which you can see by clicking on the Show All button in the Find PowerPacks Online dialog.I strongly recommend you give them a look, because there is a ton of useful PowerShell functionality in those PowerPacks.

Hello Vladan, one thing you mention here isn’t entirely true. In the VMware PowerPacks on PowerGUI.org, we indeed show the VMware PowerPack with only beta support for PowerCLI 4.1, but that just needs to be updated (by me). PowerGUI 3.0 comes with the VMware PowerPack (RTM, not beta) with PowerCLI 4.1 support. I just need to circle back and update the one that is online as well.
