As in previous years, Eric Siebert with vSphere-land.com is organizing a TOP vBlog voting competition and my blog, ESX Virtualization blog, is participating. I try to do a bit of everything, but staying as accurate as possible. Readers can vote and determine which virtualization blog they prefer to read through the year. Some readers might prefer deep-dive, or how-to topics only where others want to read news or watch videos.
Not all blogs are equal. Not all of them are updated all year long, so as a result they are less known, they get less traffic, and perhaps they just die. Nothing more sad than a dead blog…. Vote Here !!!
I blog with passion since 2008 when I discovered this awesome WordPress tool. Daily. It’s a job! My blog, ESX Virtualization finished on 13th place last year! One day I needed to bookmark some configuration steps. I thought, why not try some of the bookmarking tools out there? Delicio.us was one of the favorites back in that time. But then I thought. Why not create my own space out there? The blog was born!
One might ask, how it is a being blogger? Over the years, I grew up with knowledge of how to blog and what might interest my readers, and me…. Usually, the topics I want to blog about, are defined on per-day schedule. I try to schedule the posts as much as I can as I can avoid rush a post. I have done few mistakes in the past, so learning from mistakes is something I try to do.
Past Year – What I’m proud of for 2015?
Consider frequency, quality, longevity and accuracy of informations!
Past year was quite productive for me as I put a lot of energy to blogging. It pays off. Google sends me more traffic, so the blog is more popular. By being a single person who writes for the blog, there is obviously a limit on how many posts you can do in a particular period…
A fellow blogger Andreas Lesslhumer has a Open vBlog database where you can see how many posts were published by a blog. It turns out that I'm the 4th on the list with 268 posts! I spend quite a time working through VCP6-DCV Study Guide. Readers loved it…
That's why I continue this year with another study guide for VCP6-DTM

Quote from Eric's post:
- Longevity – Anyone can start a blog but it requires dedication, time & effort to keep it going. Some bloggers start a blog only to have it fall to the wayside several months later. Things always come up in life but the good bloggers keep going regardless of what is happening in their life.
- Length – It’s easy to make a quick blog post without much content, nothing wrong with this as long as you have good content in the post that people will enjoy. But some bloggers post pretty long detailed posts which takes a lot of time and effort to produce. The tip of the hat goes to these guys that burn the midnight oil trying to get you some great detailed information.
- Frequency – Some bloggers post several times a week which provides readers with lots of content. This requires a lot of effort as bloggers have to come up with more content ideas to write about. Frequency ties into length, some do high frequency/low length, some do low frequency/high length, some do both. They’re all good and require a lot of time and effort on the bloggers part.
- Quality – It all comes down to whats in the blog post regardless of how often or how long the blog posts are. After reading a blog post if you come away with learning something that you did not previously know and it benefits you in some way then you know you are reading a quality post. Good quality is usually the result of original content, its easy to re-hash something previously published elsewhere, the good bloggers come up with unique content or put their own unique spin on popular topics.
